UCSB Student Survives Attempted Hanging

A 19-year-old UCSB student was rushed to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after he was found hanging from a tree at the Ellwood Bluffs. The family who saw him signaled to a 50-year-old man nearby, who “cut down the male,” Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kelly Hoover told The Daily Nexus, “and start[ed] CPR before medics could arrive.” Hoover said the student, whose name hasn’t been released, was in critical condition.
