The City of Santa Barbara’s new oversize vehicle law is discriminatory legislation, in both intent and effect. The authors did not change this simply by hiding these facts behind language about public safety. This looks like a law that purports to agree, to the letter, with civil rights law, but is in clear violation of the spirit of that law. I am greatly concerned that our city attorney would promote such an ethically challenged solution. And who in the world would vote for such a thing?
