Donald Trump’s allegations that millions voted illegally in the last election have led his voting commission to embark on an information-gathering campaign, ostensibly to ensure that only eligible voters are allowed to vote. What is receiving less attention is that voter rolls in a number of states have been purged as part of the voter disenfranchisement that got Presidents Bush and Trump elected in the first place. It seems probable that the current information-gathering campaign is the next step in an effort to continue this process in states like California, which will not agree to purge the voter rolls on their own initiative. Resist the urge to purge!
