Construction is finally complete on the new, bigger, wider Cabrillo Boulevard Bridge, designed to enhance traffic flow and visibility above and improve water movement and capacity in Mission Creek below. The $26 million project, which began in November 2014, replaced the original century-old bridge, which fell far below vehicle and earthquake safety standards. It also created new habitat for steelhead trout and tidewater gobies, both species of fish on the federal endangered list. The work finishes soon before the opening of the nearby La Entrada hotel development.
