“Humans are the only species that share stories.  We’d be lost without them.  With them, we find ourselves”- Barbara Fulton

In 2020, the Ojai Storytelling Festival was forced to close its doors due to the Covid 19 pandemic.  Now almost 2 years since the last festival, we are happy to announce the 20th Ojai Storytelling Festival will take place Oct. 28-31 in the beautiful Ojai Valley with an incredible lineup of the nation’s most talented storytellers.  After all we’ve been through, think how wonderful it will be to listen to stories, tales that make us laugh, tales that inspire, tales that touch us in our deepest souls.  When we hear that phrase, “once upon a time”, we enter into a shared experience of what it means to be human.

For this our 20th festival, we have brought together some of our favorite storytellers along with some new voices.  The sheer joy of being together will be mighty. Not only will there be stories, but music will abound. The lineup is as follows:  The lineup  includes Donald Davis of North Carolina, Bill Harley of Mass., Kim Weitkamp of Ohio, Diane Macklin of Marlyland, Bil Lepp of West Virginia, Regi Carpenter of New York, the Reverend B. Jones of Michigan, Debra Ehrhardt of Jamaica, and special guest Kimberly Ford and the Dreamland Band’s tribute to Joni Mitchell.

The Ojai Storytelling Festival has events for kids, students and adults, there is truly something for everyone at this festival. For a detailed description of the storytellers , to view a schedule and to purchase tickets, go to www.ojaistoryfest.org.  Tickets for individual events as well as weekend passes for multiple events can be purchased at our site.  For those of you that have never been to a storytelling festival, you will hear all kinds of stories, personal tales, folk tales, humorous anecdotes, tales of mystery and suspense, ribald tales, inspiring tales of courage just to name a few.

And most importantly, the stories are never read, they are told  so skillfully that you forget where you are, you’re in the story completely. This festival is just what we need for now, we guarantee you will leave with a full spirit, overflowing with stories.
