Lily Strong is originally from Santa Barbara and moved to the Bay Area to pursue a career in Public Health Nursing. She created the non-profit Earth Diaper a year and a half ago with friend and attorney Hayden Lilien to provide compostable diapers and composting to a homeless shelter in Santa Cruz. After working in several counties in the Bay Area as a home visitor for moms and babies, she became aware of the issue of diaper need as a public health issue. In addition she learned that diapers make up 3% of landfill waste and wanted to do something about it. She is currently back in Santa Barbara and is continuing the journey of solving a monumental diaper waste problem. She is exploring how to do that at a local level.

A program sponsored by Earth Diapers and Santa Barbara Permaculture Network
