Grinches, beware!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again in Santa Barbara, and The Indy‘s newest holiday-spirit enforcer, Devon Claire Flannery, wants to make sure you celebrate our warm-weather winters to the fullest. To make it easier for you to do so, she has compiled a list of all the holiday activities taking place in the county this season. In the following pages, you’ll discover that snowfall is possible on the Central Coast, our city boasts more than one extravagant Christmas parade every year, and in Santa Barbara, inviting your Scrooge-inclined friends to go wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley is an important civic duty during the holidays. But even if Santa Claus, Christmas trees, and nativity scenes aren’t your style in December, there is still a plethora of reindeer-free ways to celebrate the season: Take part in a community cookie exchange, watch the lighting of a giant menorah, or share your own unique holiday tradition at a peaceful interfaith holiday celebration. All Santa Barbarans who are reveling in the holiday spirit this season will find that the next few pages will fill their calendars with cheer.

Several locations and times for the events listed in this feature have been changed, canceled, or postponed due to the Tea Fire. The Independent encourages interested readers to call the event’s sponsor in advance for the most up-to-date information.
