Looking to bring home a furry friend? The Wags ‘n’ Whiskers Festival will showcase adoptable dogs, cats, and bunnies from shelters and animal rescues across the county. The festival will include dog training demonstrations, an agility show, kids’ activities based on the book Pawsitive Thinking, and a raffle with pet-oriented prizes. Wags ‘n’ Whiskers was created by CARE4Paws, a nonprofit organization that promotes responsible pet ownership and animal welfare in Santa Barbara by spreading awareness about pet retention, animal homelessness, and shelter adoptions. The event takes place Sunday, August 29, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., at Girsh Park in Goleta (behind Costco). Low-cost vaccination, microchipping, and dog-licensing take place 9-11 a.m. For info, call 968-CARE (2273), email info@care4paws.org, or visit care4paws.org.
