Two days ahead of a June 30 deadline, Judge Steven Stone ruled to finalize the binding arbitration process among the organizations in the Victoria Hall Building Council, thus removing the last obstacle to a 30-year lease on the building’s theater for Ensemble Theatre Company. The ruling reportedly also awards legal fees to CALM and RSVP, the prevailing partners in the dispute about the best use of the property. Although Tom Reed, executive director of the third co-owner, the Unity Shoppe, asserted that Unity Shoppe would abide by the court’s decision, he added that questions remain about the potential impact of the proposed changes on his organization’s ability to raise funds through an annual telethon.
