TOP SPORTING EVENTS: MAY 18-31
Santa Barbara High has the home court in the CIF Division 1 tennis quarterfinals today (Wed., May 18) against Woodbridge of Irvine. First serve is at 3 p.m.
Dos Pueblos advanced to the main bracket of the CIF Division 2 baseball playoffs by winning a wild-card game Tuesday over Pioneer Valley, 6-5. The Chargers (19-8) will travel to face top-seeded Cypress (22-7) in the first round Thursday, May 19.
Santa Barbara and Bishop Diego both will host baseball games Thursday – the Dons (20-6) against Aliso Niguel (22-10) in Division 2, and Bishop’s Cardinals (12-7) against Buckley (6-2) in Division 6.
In softball Thursday, it’s La Quinta (17-9) at Dos Pueblos (17-9) in Division 4, and Whitney (9-4-1) at Carpinteria (19-5) in Division 6. The second round of the baseball and softball playoffs will be next Tuesday.
The Santa Barbara Breakers wrap up the regular season of the West Coast Pro Basketball League on Saturday against the visiting Newport Beach Surf. The game will be played at Santa Barbara High’s J.R. Richards Gym at 7 p.m.
