As far as crime goes, it was one of the quieter Fiestas in recent memory, Police Chief Cam Sanchez told the Santa Barbara City Council Tuesday. There were very few violent altercations during the five days of festivities, he noted, and zero gang-related incidents. In 2011, the SBPD issued 331 traffic citations. Officers gave out 414 this year. There were 32 felony arrests made last year compared to 48 made this time around, most related to drug possession or parole violation. Officers clocked 2,900 hours of overtime this year, 1,100 hours less than in 2011.
