Matt Kettmann

Independent Duffers Prevail

After some disappointing outings over the last few years, The Santa Barbara Independent’s resident foursome managed to eke out a victory this week at La Cumbre Country Club, where Todd Smith, Chris Meagher, Matt Kettmann, and Laszlo Hodosy (shown here on the 13th hole) tallied the best net score during a golf tournament to benefit the UCSB Men’s Basketball program. The victory was due, in part, because Kettmann boasts an advantageously amateur handicap (despite golfing since he could stand), as does Meagher, though the latter managed to shoot a not-so-amateur 82 on the day, which was a nice pairing for Smith’s reliably low score of 77. The real winners, of course, were the Gaucho b-ballers, whose first game is on November 1.
