For the second year in a row, SBCC has been named one of the top 10 community colleges in the country by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Award Program. That distinction puts the school in the running for a $1 million prize awarded to a finalist to be announced in March. The Aspen Institute noted City College’s above-average transfer and graduation rate, especially for underrepresented students. The rate for Hispanic students, who make up 30 percent of SBCC’s student body, is 48 percent.
