The three-year reign of Lucchese in the Bombardier Pacific Coast Open came to an end Sunday, September 1, as the ERG polo team raced to a 16-9 victory at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club.

Paco de Narvaez came through with eight goals to lead Scott Wood’s ERG foursome to its first triumph in the 104-year-old PCO tournament. It was the fourth time de Narvaez, who was named MVP, stood in the winner’s circle. He was a member of Michael Hakan’s Duende teams that won three PCO titles in the past decade.

The PCO was the last of the summer’s 20-goal tournaments at the club. The fall season will feature eight-goal teams for the next six weeks, beginning with the Harry East Memorial final on Sunday, September 8.
