Dominguez, Rowse, Murillo Confirmed Winners

Final ballot totals in the race for three City Council seats were released by the City Clerk’s Office on Monday and contained few surprises. Jason Dominguez, Randy Rowse, and Cathy Murillo have gained office by wide margins, and the voter turnout numbers came close to those of past elections.

Jason Dominguez will represent the city’s Eastside, or District 1, winning 1,103 votes of the 2,117 votes cast. The district has 5,345 registered voters. District 1’s turnout was 39.61 percent, within past city at-large election votes of 38-42 percent. The Mesa will be represented by incumbent Councilmember Randy Rowse, who won 2,130 votes out of the 3,129 cast, a rate of 34.27 percent of the 9,131 registered voters in District 2. For the Westside’s District 3, incumbent Councilmember Cathy Murillo retains her seat with 941 votes of the 1,525 cast, or 36.11 percent of the 4,223 electorate.

All ballots postmarked or entered by 8 p.m. Election Day, November 3, and received within three days are considered counted, and the City Council is set to certify the results on November 24.
