UCSB beats UC Davis 1-0 (Nov. 11, 2014)
Paul Wellman

UCSB men’s soccer team is one win away from clinching the Big West Tournament championship after its 1-0 victory Wednesday night over tough rival UC Davis at Harder Stadium. The Gauchos found their stride early in the first half, but their constant pressure was soundly rebuffed by Davis defenders, anchored by senior goalkeeper Kris Schultz. It wasn’t until late into the second half when sophomore forward Ahinga Selemani fired from 25 yards to put one away. The Gauchos, now 13-5-2, will host Cal State Fullerton (12-7-1) Saturday night for the title and an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. The Gauchos already have earned NCAA consideration because of their strong schedule, but a victory Saturday would enhance their seeding. Game starts at 7 p.m.
