Santa Barbara Police Chief Cam Sanchez was hurt in a serious car accident last Friday on his way to LAX. He was heading south on Highway 101 by Bates Road, when a tire flew off an unidentified vehicle from the other side of the freeway, smashing into his windshield. Sanchez managed to pull over to the side of the road, and his two passengers were taken by ambulance to Cottage Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. He suffered a concussion, contusions, and abrasions, said police spokesperson Sgt. Riley Harwood. “He said he looks terrible,” Harwood added. Sanchez and the two passengers are now home recuperating.
