DeEtta Marie Nancarrow, 87, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, November 25, 2012. DeEtta was born on May 6, 1925, in Glendale, California, to Ernest and Hattie Jacobs. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1943. She became a Pan Am flight attendant which took her all over the world. It ignited her passion for travel, and she developed life long friendships.

In 1950, DeEtta married her next-door neighbor, David Nancarrow. They moved to Santa Barbara where they raised their four children: Chris, David Jr., Janet, and Greg. She supported her husband in the development of Rayne Water Conditioning, and the Carrows, Jeremiah’s Steak House and the Elephant Bar restaurant chains.

DeEtta was a beautiful, kind, gentle and gracious lady that was the heart and soul of her family. She had an open heart, and always remained positive even through the difficulties of life. She lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed many activities with family and friends, including; travel, bridge, tennis, water aerobics. She always enjoyed opening her beautiful home to create happy memories. She had a wonderful sense of humor and infectious laugh that will be greatly missed.

DeEtta is survived by her children, David Jr., Janet and Greg; her five grandchildren, Matthew Nancarrow, Carson French, Blake, Jaime and Taylor Nancarrow; her two great-grandchildren, Laura Leigh Nancarrow and Byoungju Nancarrow; her daughter-in-law Brenda Nancarrow-Garrison, her son-in-law Donald French; her granddaughters-in-law, Miyoung Nancarrow and Ashley Nancarrow; her sister-in-law Maxine Jacobs; and her brother and sister-in-law, Sydney and Annabelle Nancarrow.

DeEtta was preceded in death by her husband, David; her son Chris; her grandson Jeffrey Nancarrow; and her brother DeWayne Jacobs.

DeEtta will be missed dearly by all and is at peace with the Lord.

Services will be held Friday December 14, 11:30AM at Calvary Chapel, Santa Barbara.

The Nancarrow family extends gratitude to Dr. Jeffrey Kupperman, Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care of Santa Barbara, DeEtta’s nurse Anne Burns, and her many caregivers, especially Katie Chavez, Marilyn Madrinan who provided the companionship and support that extended her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care, or Santa Barbara Maritime Museum.
