William J. White

William Jennings White passed away peacefully in his Goleta home on 10/4/2012.

Bill was born in Eastport Maine on November 14, 1947. He graduated from high school in Portsmouth, RI, subsequently relocating to CA with his family. He joined the US Army in 1968, spending his last year of service with in Vietnam.

After returning home to Goleta in 1971 Bill found employment as a custodian with the Goleta Union School District. He was affectionately known by many as “Mr. Bill” for 37 years until his retirement in 2008.

Bill is survived by his wife, Diana White, His children, Jack and Corinne White of Goleta.

Bill’s mother, long time Goleta Union School District educator, Alice J. White, also survives, as well as brothers, Allen, John and Tom and his sister Dr. Anne White. He is predeceased by his father, John E. White USN, and older brother Roger M. White, USMC.

Bill’s family wishes to thank all who assisted in his care with special recognition to Dr. Gregg Newman, Sansum Clinic oncology, Dr. Joe Blum, VA outpatient clinic, all staff at SB Radiation Center, Palliative care and Hospice VNA of SB.
