Astonishing Patience, Cheerful Lovingkindness

Jo Ann died in her Goleta home after battling neurovascular degeneration for several years. Jo Ann spent most of her 92 years in Santa Barbara County, graduating from Santa Barbara High School then taking a job selling tickets in the ticket booth outside of the Arlington Theater. This is where she met her husband Dale who would often come by asking for change as an excuse to speak to her. Jo Ann completed a semester at UCSB and sold Avon products before devoting her time entirely to raising her daughters Barbary and Roseanna while Dale worked for Shell Oil. Jo Ann was an avid tennis player, birdwatcher and talented painter who loved cats, nature and small children. She could tell you the name of every bird that landed in her backyard. Jo Ann is interred at the Goleta Cemetery right next to the grave of her husband Dale and near the grave of her brother Leslie, just as she requested in her advanced health care directive.
