Avery Diamond

Date of Birth

June 24, 1995

Date of Death

November 5, 2020

We lost our beautiful son and brother and the world lost an artistic, talented and deeply sensitive person.  Avery easily accomplished anything that he chose to master….guitar, skateboard, basketball, trampoline, unicycle, and much more. He was born with exquisite physical agility and innate artistic sensibility and these were expressed throughout his life. Avery was a bluesman who revered the greats and sang and played from the depths of his soul. Some of the highlights of his life were musical gigs in many venues starting at age 17.

He was born and died in Santa Barbara and touched many people.  He worked at a number of businesses in the funk zone including Hot Spots, Wheel and Fun, The Beach House, and Bluewater Grill. The past 2 years he worked at the University Club. Those fortunate enough to have his help at any of those establishments loved him for his care, knowledge, and service. His many friends created a spontaneous memorial for him at the skatepark that has kept growing. He was often accompanied by his beloved scruffy terrier, Spud.

Avery struggled with severe depression and anxiety which he was usually able to conceal with kindness and humor. He was compassionate and generous and was usually the life of the party. On Thursday November 5 at 8:30 PM he found peace outside of this world. He is survived by his parents Anne and Dan and his brother Jeremy. We are remembering him singing and playing jaw dropping lead guitar, swishing a turn-around fall-away jump shot, landing difficult skate tricks, and making us laugh with lightning quick wit. A memorial for Avery will be held for family and friends on his birthday June 24th at the University Club of Santa Barbara from 4-6 PM
