Date of Death

March 13, 2022

Conrad Edward Anderson, age 87 (formerly of Santa Barbara) passed away peacefully March 13, 2022 in Lincoln, CA.

Born in Anaconda, Montana to Conrad, Sr. and Mary Anderson, Conrad spent his early educational years in Washington and California.

After high school, Conrad enlisted in the Army where he played baseball for the Army’s Entertainment Division. He toured bases overseas and played against other Armed Forces for the entertainment of troops. He later signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates, but his Spring Training debut and baseball career were sadly cut short due to a knee injury.

Conrad received a degree in Engineering from California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo) and was hired by Goodyear upon graduation. His career took him to Newport Beach (Ford Aerospace) and ended with Santa Barbara Research.

His love of all sports, especially softball and golf, led him to the unofficial title as “chief team and tournament organizer” over the course of his engineering career. His greatest outreach to others was through the Santa Barbara Research Center Golf League. The league gave him many opportunities to recruit and socialize around the office candy bowl or the local Fosters Freeze. He got a real kick out of ordering birthday cakes for coworkers when it wasn’t their birthday! Sweet and soft, Conrad was also known to get overly sentimental. The family should have bought stock in Kleenex.

He is survived by wife (Marjory); children Suzanne (Dave) Horn (Dillon, Sabrina); Bob; stepdaughter Sheri (Roxy) Bernstein (Berkeley, Jake) and daughter-in-law Karen Anderson.

He is preceded in death by his son Stan Anderson, his sister Betty Richards, brother Robert Anderson, and the mother of his children, Leila Case.

The family asks that any donations in Conrad’s memory be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
