Los Olivos, Santa Barbara County, California— On Tuesday, October 1, 2014, teachers, parents and community members celebrated the new playground at St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley Preschool with a blessing by Priest & Rector The Rev. Dr. Randall Day, assisted by the preschool’s students. Located on the St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church campus located at 2901 Nojoqui Avenue in downtown Los Olivos, the Preschool is a non-profit organization that welcomes all children ages three to Pre-Kindergarten. Preschool staff includes Director Yvonne Lowe, Lead Teacher Kay Mazariegos and Teacher Aide Erika Ray. St. Mark’s Preschool offers an environment that honors the carefree days of childhood by supporting and encouraging children to grow, learn, and respect others and themselves. Regular Preschool hours are 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Monday to Friday from September through June; with special summer sessions available in June and July.

The new preschool playground features a green 18-feet tall climbing structure and slide; miniature house, refurbished picnic tables, special playground bark chips and renewed landscaping—all made possible by community donations. A generous grant was received from the local Christian Science Society as well as contributions from St. Mark’s Women’s Guild, St. Mark’s Cellar Classic, Los Olivos Rotary, Elida and Bill Ambler, Jean and John Reese, Judy and Ed Prutzman and the Preschool class families of 2012, 2013 and 2014.

The Rev. Dr. Randall Day remarked at the celebration, “This play structure is blessed by the children who play, exercise and imagine on it every day. It is made possible by the generosity of many generous people – as is the case with all the good work that is accomplished in the Santa Ynez Valley.”

St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley Preschool has served the Santa Ynez Valley area for the past eight years and welcomes children and families of all faiths. For more information on enrollment, contact Director Yvonne Lowe at 805-688-1815 or or visit
