Forums to Help High School Students Implement Ethnic Studies Curriculum

A series of informational and interactive forums will be held at two local high schools, one in Goleta and the other in Santa Barbara, thanks to high school students, along with Ethnic Studies Now! Santa Barbara Coalition (ESNSB). All are welcome to join on Dec. 4 at Dos Pueblos High or on Dec. 8, 2017 at Santa Barbara High. Each program will start at 6:00 pm.
ESN!SB has worked with our school district for three years to find a way to offer students a clearer vision of the world in which we live, learn, and work by including everyone’s contributions. All of us have made history. Now let’s include all of us in the telling of that story. Let’s create an ethnic studies curriculum from which Santa Barbara Unified School District high school students will choose one required class for graduation.
At each forum, a meal and refreshments, provided by ESN!SB and The Fund for Santa Barbara, will start at 6:00pm. Through engaged discussion, the students at Dos Pueblos High (Goleta Ethnic Studies Now student group, Fight the Isms, Allies for Equity) and Santa Barbara High (SBHS Ethnic Studies group and Gender & Sexuality Alliance) have supported Ethnic Studies in their education and future. Both of these events are supported by The Fund for Santa Barbara and Just Communities of Santa Barbara.
