Santa Barbara, CA - The Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County is pleased to announce that Jennifer Smith will join the organization as executive director commencing July 2, 2018. She succeeds Molora Vadnais, who has served as executive director since 2014.
Ms. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara in English with honors and a juris doctor (JD) from UC Davis with a certificate in Public Service. She previously worked as a legal aid attorney for Legal Services of Northern California in Sacramento and in all three offices of the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County. Most recently, she served as an Employee and Labor Relations Specialist with UC Santa Barbara. She is a past president of Santa Barbara Women Lawyers (SBWL) and serves on the Goleta Planning Commission.
Board of Directors President Alan Blakeboro stated “Jennifer has focused her legal career on providing representation to those least able to afford it and is very familiar with the Foundation and its mission. The Board is delighted that she is returning to the Foundation in a leadership role.”
Jennifer Smith stated that she is “looking forward to building on the good work Ms. Vadnais has done for Legal Aid. I am excited to bring my vision and leadership skills to the organization. Our dedicated staff and volunteers are committed to providing high quality legal services to underserved residents of our community.”
