Emilio DePaola

1934 - 2007, Santa Barbara

Emilio DePaola passed away suddenly Sunday, December 9, 2007. Born December 28, 1934 to Maria Parrotta DePaola & Michele Thomas DePaola in Eccles, West Virginia.

Survived by his former wife of 37 years Joan DePaola, children and their spouses, Michael & wife Kim DePaola, Maria& husband Liam Sherlock, Charles & wife Veronica De Paola. Loving Papa to six beautiful grandchildren Clara, Jack, Isabella, Michael, Paul & Sofia. Loving Uncle to Raymond & Thomas De Paola, Terri Ann Cohen, Albert Baltieri, Maria Gaspar, Mark Baltieri, Anthony, Michael(deceased) & Joseph Caligiuri, Carmine DePaola Jr., Kelly Kehoe, and Tricia DePaola. Additionally, survived by many, many Great-Nieces & Nephews as well as his sweetheart of 10 years Mickey Klinger.

Emilio was a strong presence in the Santa Barbara community from the moment he arrived from Massachusetts in 1980. He a was an air force Veteran of the Korean War, his previous professions included; owning De Paolo & sons construction. Soon after coming to Santa Barbara he joined his son Michael in business at Michael Anthony’s Pizzeria. He is the namesake of Emilio’s Ristorante in business since 1990 and most recently enjoyed representing DePaola wines.

Emilio lived his life to the fullest, making his daily rounds visiting his friends & family from Emilio’s Ristorante and Dargan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, to Fresco and SoHo & the
Biltmore, where he always greeted everyone with a warm and genuine hello. He was a close and very dear friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral arrangements made by Welch Ryce Haider. Visitation; Friday, noon through Rosary at 7pm at Welch-Ryce-Haider Santa Barbara Chapel. Mass; Saturday, 10am at Our Lady Of Sorrows Catholic Church.
