When my mother died in 2003, I found myself in search of clergy to conduct the funeral. When I met Rev. Saatjian, he was everything I was hoping for:warm, caring, strong in his beliefs yet open to others', and willing to admit that he did not have all the answers. He did a wonderful job translating our discussion--and the disjointed mush I gave him through tears and exhaustion--into a brief, beautiful, meaningful and moving ceremony. When my father died the following year, and although Rev. Saatjian had retired a few weeks before, he helped me through it all once more.

Rev. Saatjian was one of the many graces that surrounded my parents' passing, and I will always remember him with gratitude and respect.

The National Coalition for Burned Churches Board of Directors, member churches and volunteer teams extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Saajtian family. We were so deeply saddened to hear of the home going of this GIANT of a man. For more than 10 years Rev. Saatjian gave his heart, life, time and love to rebuilding southern churches victimized by arson. He touched so many lives...and we will truly miss him.

with much love,
