Robin S. Jones
Robin S, Jones, was a longtime Santa Barbara resident, antiques and fine arts collector dealer appraiser and patron of the arts. She passed away peacefully in her home with her husband, son, and dog by her side on Monday November 5, 2012.
Robin had a keen interest in fine and decorative art and antiques since childhood. She was a graduate of the Chounard Art Institute as well an accomplished artist. Robin met her future husband Ernest at Santa Barbara High School then later gave birth to their two sons, Robert and Evan.
The family moved to Florence Italy where Robin painted and Ernest photographed. When they moved back to Santa Barbara Robin taught art for awhile, but wanted something more. For many years, she had been collecting, working, buying, and selling art as well as antiques and thought; “Why not tun it into a business?” So, “Robin Jones Appraisal Services, Antiques and Fine Arts since 1969,” was born. After 43 years and continuing the business is now run by her son, Evan Jones.
Robin was a longtime member of The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, The U.C.S.B Art Affiliates, Santa Barbara Historical Museum, The Little Town Club, Junior League and the International Society of Appraisers. She was the Founder of Friends of Ethnic Art and a patron of The Museum of Natural History, Pearl Chase Society, S.B Trust for Historic Preservation, Music Academy, Humane Society, Boys and Girls Club and many more.
Robin was predeceased by her son Robert and is survived by her husband Ernest and son Evan. Robin touched everyone she met with love and kindness. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and the art and antiques community. The family would like to thank Visiting Nurse and Hospices Care and Home Matters Caregiving Connections for al their good work.
