Caught in an Eddy

Prosecuting attorneys in the trial of local peace activist
MacGregor Eddy gained leverage last week when federal Judge Rita
Federman threw out Eddy’s main argument justifying her actions at
Vandenberg Air Force Base. Eddy has long maintained that her
trespass last October was an act of “necessity” due to the United
States’ violation of international law and the Nuremberg
principles, but – at the behest of a prosecution motion – Federman
ruled last Thursday that all such evidence be inadmissible in the
trial. However, the judge left open the possibility of Eddy taking
the stand when the trial resumes in mid March in order to explain
her motivation for crossing the green line.
