Nursing Honors

Thu May 04, 2006 | 12:00pm

Thanks to the generosity of the Bialis family, each month one
lucky — and deserving — local nurse will be the recipient of a
$3,000 award. The Bialis Family Foundation recently established
this honor to raise awareness and appreciation for our community’s
hard-working caretakers. “Nursing is one of the most
under-appreciated professions in the country,” said Ellen
Bialis.

Carol Leidner, a clinical nurse in the Santa Barbara Cottage
Hospital Intensive Care Unit, is the first to receive the honor.
Leidner has been a nurse at Cottage since 1973 and a Clinical
Research Nurse since 1996; co-workers at Cottage say there could
not have been a more qualified nurse for this award.
