Unconfirmed rumors have been swirling in the past few weeks of a
great white shark swimming in the waters off well-known surf break
Rincon Point. While a confirmed great white sighting was documented
by Carpinteria city officials in March just west of Rincon, no such
evidence exists of this particularly toothy summertime swimmer. The
most recent reports allege an approximately 15-foot great white
patrolling the top of the point and the adjacent back beach. For
comparison, the March shark was estimated to measure between 14-16
feet.
