In a similar vein to The Streets and Dizzee Rascal — both
British hip-hop implementing two-step and U.K. garage
beats — Marvin the Martian (also known as Marv the Marsh) takes his
craft a notable step further into the spotlight by being part of
the Grindie movement, which uses the basic beats you would find in
most of this hard-edged, investigative, rhyming style and layering
indie-rock guitar riffs over it. This Brixton artist mashes it up
with samples from CAN and Kate Bush — and those are just two
artists representing the variety and excellent taste you will find
behind the man when you check him out. Visit him on his MySpace page, since
you won’t find this in any of the shops here in town.
