Tiki Tuesday

Thu Feb 22, 2007 | 12:00pm

Members: Bryan Allen and Rusty Dodson.

Albums: What Went Wrong? (June
2006).

Prior Gigs: Tiki Tuesday plays every other
Thursday night at Alcazar Tapas Bar (1812 Cliff Dr.). Before
forming Tiki Tuesday five years ago, they were rocking the Santa
Barbara acoustic scene for more than 10 years, formerly with Isla
Vista’s The Gonads and S.B.’s Pie.

Style: Acoustic pop/rock.

Influences: Wilco, Cake, bourbon, and Tenacious
D.

The Skinny: Bryan and Rusty are two guys who
sing and play guitar, producing triple-blade social commentary
wrapped in feel-good melodies nestled in a lush instrumental futon.
Although Tiki Tuesday plays live as a duo, they produced the album
with a full-band feel, complete with drums, bass, and flavoring
tracks, and special guest Jeff Lim offered his talents on the
violin for two songs. Their music is “a unique blend of rock and
satire that’s edgy and beautiful — like apple pie and shattered
glass.” With its catchy, clever lyrics about the ridiculous ways of
the modern world, the album sounds like something you would sing
along to, on a road trip down the coast.

Next Gig: Thursday, February 22 at Alcazar
Tapas Bar.
