The Skinny: The Audrey Rest began when founding members Sauls and Horstmann, formally with Paint the Town, decided to shed their reggae/rock cocoons and spread their glorious dance/rock wings to the sky. The illegitimate offspring of the love affair between Angus, the god of rock ‘n’ roll, and Chaka, the goddess of disco, they sound something like a loud fusion of We Are Scientists, Bloc Party, and Muse. The boys claim their live performances, with songs blending a pair of dancing shoes, a childhood memory, and a locomotive, will “buy you a drink; make you dance the night away; open the cab door; ravish, use, and abuse you; and leave you lying on the bathroom floor, asking for more.”

Next Gig: Tuesday, July 10, 10 p.m., at the Wildcat Lounge’s Locals Night.
