Autopsy Gives Insight Into What Killed Transient

Assault Not a Factor in Sandra McFarlane's Death

Results of an autopsy performed on the body of Sandra McFarlane – the 45-year-old transient woman who was found dead near the Milpas Street roundabout Wednesday morning – have ruled out the possibility that she may have died as a result of a physical attack she suffered a week prior. McFarlane was reportedly released from Cottage Hospital on July 26 after being assaulted by a subject who was later arrested by Santa Barbara Police, but that incident seems to have no connection with her death. The results of a pending toxicology examination may further clarify what killed McFarlane.
