Judge Sentences Man for Murder of UCSB Student

This Tuesday a Los Angeles Superior Court judge sentenced Lawrence Davila, 22, to 16 years to life in prison for the stabbing murder of David De A’Morelli, 26. A’Morelli, an Environmental Studies major at UCSB, was visiting friends and family in Los Angeles when he was murdered the night of June 23, 2006. Circumstances surrounding the murder as well as motive remain unclear, but Davila has told investigators he was drunk and high on Vicodin when he approached A’Morelli who was getting into his car. A’Morelli’s laptop computer was missing from his car and his family is offering a $1,000 reward for its return.
