Preparing Your Garden for Fall

Every year, the gardening gurus and their ilk tell us this is the best season of all to plant things. There is lots of evidence that they are right. Experience has shown that planting into the warm soil of late summer and fall provides many kinds of plants the environment they need to get well established before the cool-down. So, with that in mind, here are some tips on what to plant in the next month or so.

Celebrate Brazilian Independence Day

So you’re not Brazilian, you’re not one for revolutions, and you didn’t even know they speak Portuguese in Rio de Janeiro. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be celebrating the fun-loving country’s independence day on September 7, because it’s sure to be one of the more happening weeks for Santa Barbara’s healthy population of Brazilian ex-pats.
