Dog Killed in Vehicle Fire

Person sustains serious injuries in Sunday explosion.

A dog trapped in a vehicle when it caught on fire early Sunday morning died, according to Santa Barbara police. Santa Barbara police and fire both responded to a call of an explosion in the early morning hours Sunday, January 20, and arrived at the 2600 block of Murrell Road, near Arroyo Burro Beach, to find two vehicles fully engulfed in flames, according to Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte of the police department. One of the owners of the vehicles was walking outside his vehicle and had very serious burn injuries. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire
