The power stayed on at the Arlington theatre for the opening night of the 23rd SBIFF. The 1200 block of State Street and neighboring Vons did not fair as well.

The 23rd annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival kicked off with the screening of Definitely, Maybe, starring Ryan Reynolds and Abigail Breslin. The opening was attended by the film’s stars as well as festival jurors Shohreh Agdashloo (House of Sand and Fog), Marc Fergus (Children of Men), Hawk Ostby (Children of Men), Domenica Cameron-Scorsese, and Anthony Zerbre (The Matrix, The Omega Man). The audience flocked from the screening at the Arlington to a nearby tented opening party, where they enjoyed drinks and kept out of the rain.
