Yoav

Verve; October 2007

In anticipation of his first full-length album, Charmed and Strange, slated for release in January 2008, English troubadour Yoav (pronounced “yo-ahv”) graces us with a short debut, the indie aperitif Adore. In four tasty tracks, Yoav reveals the complexity and distinction of his imaginative style, intoning uncommon sounds to the genre of contemporary acoustic guitar through simple effects, treatments, and symphonic layering. The album is explorative in sound, with a smattering of modern club beats, vapor-like quells, and Middle Eastern melodies that not only define the artist’s personal taste, but his mastery of both instrument and style. A journey through sound, albeit a short one, Yoav’s debut succeeds in whetting our collective appetites for his eagerly anticipated release.
