International music makers, Gipsy Kings, will be performing at the Santa Barbara Bowl Sunday, August 17 at 7 p.m.

The Gipsy Kings hail all the way from the south of France, where they grew up traveling the countryside as real life gypsies. With music and performing in their blood, the boys quickly took to playing instruments and playing small gigs throughout their native land. And, after years spent conducting concerts on street corners, in weddings, and at parties, the band found worldwide fame with their 1988 self-titled album, which featured such hits as “Bamboleo” and “Djobi Djoba.” For the past 20 years the Gipsy Kings have maintained their status by consistently releasing albums that have helped bring Salsa, Rumba, and flamenco rhythms to the pop loving masses. Their most recent disk, Pasajero, finds the band exploring their roots by fusing jazz, Latin influences, and even Arabic sounds. And with such a worldly sound – and longstanding, successful career – the Kings are sure to put on a show that will please music lovers of all walks.

Tickets will go on sale starting Saturday, March 8 at 11 a.m. For additional information visit sbbowl.com or gipsykings.com.
