No More Lead Bullets

Condor Country Ban Begins July 1

Fri Jun 06, 2008 | 02:00pm

If you are going hunting in historical condor country, which includes basically all of Santa Barbara County’s wilderness areas, as of July 1 you will no longer be able to use lead ammunition. Introduced by Assemblymember Pedro Nava of Santa Barbara, and first signed into law last October, Assembly Bill 182, looking to stop the longstanding deadly impact lead munition poisoning has had on the endagered California Condor population, makes the use of the nefarious ammo illegal when hunting game animals like deer, bear, and wild pigs. The ban was extended in December to include non-game wildlife, such as ground squirrels.
