Santa Barbara Police spokesperson Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte announced Wednesday that the investigation into the August 10 stabbing on at 18-year-old man, which took place in front of the Guest House Inn at 3344 State Street, has resulted in the arrest of 18-year-old Pablo Lopez on Tuesday morning. Lopez has been booked into jail on charges of attempted murder, active participation in a criminal street gang and intimidating a witness.

A call to Duarte about whether this stabbing could have had anything to do with the ongoing murder trial of Ricardo Juarez, the teen accused of a stabbing murder that resulted from a March 2007 gang brawl on State Street, had not been returned as of the posting of this article. The 18-year-old who was stabbed in the attack last Sunday has not been released to the public.

Duarte encouraged anyone with information about this stabbing to call the police at (805) 897-2300.
