A 35-year-old Santa Barbara County man died in a single-car collision Sunday night in Goleta.
Russell Sturges was driving a 1999 GMC Yukon eastbound on Calle Real near Baker Lane in Goleta when the SUV veered off the shoulder, hit a tree and rolled onto its roof, according to authorities. Sturges was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was taken from the vehicle.
A 16-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital, but was not injured.
The collision is still under investigation, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
