According to a Facebook page, the scheduled rally at the Santa Barbara Courthouse against Proposition 8 -which is part of a larger, nationwide protest against the measure’s passage – is still going to take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, at the Sunken Gardens.

In a message to people who have confirmed they will attend the rally, organizer Sean Ray said: “Our hearts go out to our neighbors, families, and friends who have been affected by this fire. Despite the numbers they have officially announced, I have it on good authority that the loss is much greater than they are currently willing to report. This is a tragedy. I encourage everyone to do what they can to help out. That being said, there is another tragedy that we need to address as well. This rally will continue, barring the Sunken Gardens and the Courthouse itself being on fire. I will see you all there.”
