Lighting the Way

The holiday season is glorious in large part thanks to all the twinkley lights that abound. While a visual delight, the amount of electricity consumed by said lights is enormous. Happily, there now exist energy-efficient, environmentally friendly LEDs that emit a festive glow without draining Momma Earth of her resources. From now through December 19, the South County Energy Efficiency Partnership (SCEEP) is holding a holiday light exchange. Hand over a strand of working incandescent lights and you’ll receive a strand of LED holiday lights. And it’s free! There is a limit of one strand per household on a first-come, first-served basis, and you must be a Southern California Edison customer. For exchange locations and more information, visit SCEEP.org.
