Marianne Dissard

L'entredeux

If there is one thing you can expect from Tucson musicians, it is the unexpected. The latest glittering sonic surprise to emerge from the Sonora Desert is a chanteuse by the name of Marianne Dissard. With the help of area musical luminaries (including Calexico frontman Joey Burns and a fellow French transplant Naim Amor), Dissard has crafted her poignant prose into 12 afflicting musical vignettes. With a hint of seductive Parisian blues, Dissard beautifully lilts about love and loss. Sung completely in French, L’entredeux might be the result of a deeply personal journey, but it is also so much more than that; it is an album of splendid beauty that marks the metamorphosis of a sublimely creative soul into a true artist. In other words, expect to be hearing much, much more of Dissard in the very near future.
