Lower Manzana Creek Trail
The lower Manzana Trail wanders for 8 miles to its confluence with the Sisquoc River. Here you can visit the historic Manzana School where 20-25 children received their education in the 1890s.
Hell’s Half Acre & Beyond
Though the entire ride is along a dirt road, it provides views out over both the San Rafael Wilderness and the Santa Ynez Valley. The road follows a long ridgeline leading to the wilderness’s namesake – 6, 593′ San Rafael Mountain.
White Rock Trail
White Rock Trail is named after the outcroppings of brilliant white sandstone a mile down the trail and just south of the historic chrome mine. This trail is the remnant of an old jeepway which once serviced the mine, though it is now overgrown enough to seem just a trail. It provides an enjoyable way to traverse from Ranger Peak to Sunset Valley Road below.
Camuesa Connector Day Hike
This trail gets relatively little use, making it nice for a more secluded hike. The trail leads up and across a high bench with nice views overlooking the pool at Live Oak. Above, it cuts across a series of saddles formed by a fault line.
Munch Canyon
This ride combines the beauty of Fir Canyon with the rugged chaparral of Munch Canyon, a combination of opposites that is the trademark of the back country.
Arroyo Burro Backside
This is a delightful trail that leads up through a narrow canyon and because it isn’t traveled too often, is a nice hike for those who want a bit of solitude. The narrow, rocky canyon is shaded and is filled with lush riparian vegetation and a cool creek that runs year round except in extremely dry years.
East Pinery Loop
This is one of the prettiest rides in Santa Barbara, combining the beauty of Fir Canyon with a ride back up through an aromatic grove of Yellow, Jeffrey, and Coulter pines.
Devil’s Canyon Loop
Though a relatively long hike, Devil’s Canyon offers the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful hike up the Santa Ynez River to Gibraltar Dam with a return trip through a narrow, lush canyon and back along the grassy slopes of the Santa Ynez Fault to Live Oak picnic area.
East Pinery Out n’ Back
The route itself isn’t long and it’s actually not a trail but a well graded road which goes down the main ridgeline leading north from Ranger Peak. Yet it is an enchanting place.
