UPDATE: This event has been canceled.

Moms and dads, rest your weary heads. Rebecca Klauber and Kasey Edwards just made life a little bit easier for you. University Sitters, their innovative brainchild, helps connect families in the community with experienced and enthusiastic babysitters from UCSB.

Instead of spending countless hours on craigslist trying to find the right sitter, spend a few minutes with some of Klauber and Edwards’s hand-picked candidates at their first Parent/Sitter Mixer. It’s like speed dating meets The Babysitter’s Club. Each of the parents has the opportunity to mingle with more than 50 professional babysitters, sip refreshments, and ruminate over their choices.

The event will be held on Wednesday, February 18, from 7- 8:30 p.m. at Summer For Kids in Montecito. After the mixer, all parents will leave (hopefully satisfied) with a list of potential sitters, including resumes, references, and schedule availabilities.

The cost for each entry is $100 and 10 percent of the proceeds will go to Angels Foster Care of Santa Barbara. While this may seem a bit pricey, it could save you the unending aggravation of finding someone to watch the kids while you run your errands.

Summer For Kids is located 1235 Coast Village Rd.
