UCSB has acquired the papers of the prolific and prodigious political reporter Lou Cannon, who has written five books about Ronald Reagan among the nine he has published.

The “Sage of Summerland” is widely considered the nation’s leading authority on the career and administrations of President Reagan and acquisition of his papers is a coup for Davidson Library’s Special Collections department; the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and the Reagan Presidential Library itself were among other research facilities that had been interested in the collection.

Among those on hand for the event were Chancellor Henry Yang, University Librarian Brenda Johnson, Special Collections director David Tambo, the famed network political reporter Sander Vanocur, and authors Ann Louise Bardach, Gayle Lynds, and Kathleen Sharp.
